Coronavirus has meant the cancellation of most events which the public would have enjoyed throughout the summer months and sadly Skelton Show was no exception. However, the organisers of Skelton Show wanted to still mark what would have been a busy time preparing for the 126th Annual Show traditionally held on Saturday 4th July in the picturesque setting at Hutton-in-the Forest.

Thinking outside the box, they are hosting a ‘Virtual Online Show’ with a  select number of classes to enter and hope that the public will enter into the spirit of this new event and send their photographic entries via the Skelton Show Facebook page.

A small class schedule will be posted this week with entries closing at 9am on Thursday 2nd July with the winners being announced by live Facebook feed from the showfield on what would have been show evening – Saturday 4th July. The public will then be invited to vote for the overall livestock Champions by Facebook likes.

New Show Chairman Colin Atkinson said ‘Whilst we were really disappointed not to be holding our popular show this year, we still wanted to mark the occasion. The lockdown has made many organisations think about new ways of doing things so the idea of an online show seemed a good way to lift our spirits.  We are particularly grateful to our new sponsorship secretary Amy Wright for enthusiastically developing this initiative’.

Classes will include: Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Children’s, Industrial, Horticultural, Vintage Vehicles and Child with Pet.

Show Director John Slee added ‘Whilst this will never replace the real event, it is a great way for people to have a bit of fun and remember all that is good about the show. Entries are free so we hope that many people will get involved.  We are also grateful to a number of companies who have offered to provide the prizes.’

Download copies of the Online Schedule are no longer available however visit our Skelton Show Facebook page.to enter via Messenger.  Don’t forget to read the rules and Good Luck 🙂
