NEWS

Save the date for 2021!

todayDecember 4, 2020

Background

As we head into December in the year that never was, this week where we’ve had our hopes raised with news of additional vaccines reaching final testing stages with predictions of near 95% effectiveness and just today news that infection rates are levelling off, we also have some clarity on potential outdoor show rules for 2021 from the Association of Show & Agricultural Organisers.

Although the show going ahead is dependant upon a number of factors (many still unknown) and the format needs to be agreed under the refined guidelines, our committee remains cautiously optimistic that we will be able to hold a show in 2021.  So, we’d like everyone to save the date: Saturday 3rd July 2021 – and keep your fingers and toes crossed!

Whatever guise the show takes, it is clear that with additional rules and regulations, we will require many more stewards and volunteers to assist us to ensure the showground is socially distanced and safe for all our visitors to walk around and to enjoy the facilities available.   So if you’d like to make a difference as a volunteer to support your local show, please email John Slee with your details.  We’d love to hear from you.

The next date in our calendar will be the Skelton Show AGM which will be held on Thursday 25th February 2021 – 7.30pm in Toppin Memorial Hall and all welcome.  At this meeting, it is hoped that the committee will be in a position to discuss and agree the show format; in the meantime, if trade stands (food, crafts, general goods) would like to initially register their interest – please complete the ‘Register your Interest’ tab below and following the outcome at the AGM a member of the committee will get in touch to discuss the next steps and way forward.

In the meantime, we’d like to thank everyone for their unwavering support and would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a safe, healthy 2021.
